| Transfer stations are custom fabricated facilities, designed to receive compacted and/or non compacted loads of solid waste and/or recyclable material. Solid waste and recyclable materials are transferred from small collection vehicles into large capacity stationary compactors which in turn compact material, at high compaction forces, into large capacity receiver containers or trailers. Large capacity push-pits can be employed to hold and control flow of accumulated materials in the event of a large volume surges. Transfer stations are sometimes referred to as convenience centers. |
